Look what we've been up to in Reception!

Welcome to Pegasus Class (Reception)

Welcome back to Reception in 2019! I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Our class teacher is Miss Bianchi and she is supported by Mr Colleran and Miss Eatherly. Unfortunately, this term Mrs Hoyle and Mrs Doyne won't be supporting in our class for the first few weeks, however, we are hopeful they will be back at some point this term. Miss Robinson teaches us on a Thursday morning whilst Miss Bianchi has her PPA time.

Our topic this term is 'all creatures great and small', which focuses on all different types of animals, both past and present. During this topic we will be exploring everything from the prehistoric dinosaurs to the tiny minibeasts.

In phonics, we are continuing with our phase 2 sounds in RWI. We have been very impressed with how well the children are doing in our phonics sessions and would like to thank you for the support you are giving at home, this makes a huge difference to the children's learning. New sounds are sent home every Friday, please can you ensure your child's sound book is in on a Thursday.

As we have now learnt all our initial sounds (A-Z) we are focusing on blending, in order to move forward with our reading. This is a really important step for your child, therefore, we will be working a lot on this in class and hope that you can too at home.

In maths this term we are focusing in depth on 0-10, following GLOW maths hub planning as well as NCETM and Number blocks. This term we will be introducing the concept of subtraction, addition and doubling.

Our door is always open, so please do pop in if you have any questions or queries!

Thank you,

The Reception team
