Welcome to Pegagus Class (Reception)

Our class  teacher is Miss Baxter, with Miss Jackson on Friday mornings. They are both supported by Mrs Doyne, Miss Eatherley and Mrs Holdsworth.

We hope you had a lovely Christmas and new year. It's always a busy time but hopefully it was enjoyable and the bugs stayed away from your family.

This half term we start off with the Polar Regions as our topic, the children enjoyed looking at and playing in the frost this week. We have had some hot chocolate to keep us warm and been making some penguin pictures already.

We will then move onto looking at Julia Donaldson and the books she has written, we will base our art, English and maths around her books. We will then focus on dinosaurs for a few weeks before finishing the half term off with the Chinese New Year. There are lots of exciting things planned. If you have any resources that will compliment our topics, do let your child bring them in to show.

Phonics will continue recapping some of the sounds and learning some more. We will also be focussing on writing the sounds and making sentences. I'm encouraging the children to do as much writing as possible in their own time, its great to see what they are producing.

We will continue with numbers to 20 and beyond and we will be adding and subtracting numbers in a practical way.

Many thanks for supporting your child's learning, it really does make a difference. If there is anything you are unsure of then do come and speak to one of the team.

Kind regards

The Reception Team
