Welcome to kraken class

Our class teacher is Mrs Deighton; she is supported by Miss Eatherley and Mrs Dean.  Miss Eatherley will be teaching PE on a Tuesday afternoon and she will also be teaching on a Thursday morning.  Mrs Knight will be teaching art on a Wednesday afternoon.  This is to enable Mrs Deighton to complete her 'deputy' and safeguarding duties!  She is very much involved in the planning.

Welcome to Year 4/5.  I am delighted to be teaching Year 4/5 this year and they have already made a great impression.    This year, we will be joined by two trainee teachers - Miss Holly Agar, who will be working closely with the class throughout Autumn term and be delivering some lessons.  She will then return in the summer term.  Mr Matthew Lefroy-Owen will then join the class for the Spring term.   They will be working alongside myself and this will also give me the opportunity to work closely with focused groups of children in order to enable them to reach their full potential.  It is an exciting opportunity for us all.

This half term, our topic is 'Bollywood'  A topic all about India.  There is so much to learn, it should be a great first topic.

P.E. will take place on a Tuesday and swimming on a Friday.  Please ensure your child brings their kit on the appropriate days.

Homework will be sent on a Friday and should be returned on the following Thursday.  The focus for spellings will be exploring different patterns.  There will be a weekly test on a Tuesday, delivered by Miss Eatherley, who will then distribute the spellings for the following week.  A separate homework book will be sent home.

Children will bring home a reading book and reading record.  This can be used as a home/school book - so if you have anything you need to tell me about, please just jot it down in there and ask your child to show me your message.

As always, if you have any concerns, questions or worries, please do not hesitate to come in and see me at the end of the day or phone to make an appointment if you are unable to do so.  My door is always open.
