Welcome to the start of a brand new year!
Year 3 is taught by Miss McGowan; we are also supported in class by Mrs Doyne and Mrs Hoyle. Mr Hanlon and Ms Catalano teach the class on a Friday afternoon.
In Maths this half term we will be covering a range of topics, building upon our knowledge of place value and numbers from Year 2 to include hundreds, tens and ones. We will also be learning mental and written forms of calculations using addition and subtraction, and the 3, 4 and 8 times tables.
In English we will be developing our writing in a variety of text types including description writing, informal letters, diary entries and recounts. The majority of our writing this half term will be inspired by the lovely book 'The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane'.
As always, please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
Our topic this half term is 'The Victorians' and we are really excited to learn about the way people lived, worked and went to school in Victorian times. The children have been full of questions about what life was like!
In science this half term we are learning about solids, liquids and gases. We have learned that every material is made up of particles, and demonstrated what the particles and the bonds between them look like in a solid, liquid and gas by using our bodies to act as the particles.
