welcome to Year 3

Welcome to Year 3's class page!

Year 3 is taught by Miss McGowan; we are also supported in class by Mrs Hoyle and Miss Robinson. Ms Eatherley will teach the class on Wednesday afternoons.

In Maths this half term we will be continuing with our learning on multiplication and division, practising our 3, 4 and 8 times tables and applying these number facts in various ways, before moving to more formal methods of calculation. We will then move on to money, identifying coins and notes and performing calculations using amounts of money.

In English we will be learning about a range of text types, using the book 'This Morning I Met A Whale' by Michael Morpurgo as a stimulus. This is a lovely book (although a little bit sad!) which links in to our class topic for this half term, based on the true story of the whale that swam up the River Thames in 2006. From this we will be producing newspaper reports, formal letters, persuasive writing and narrative stories.

Our topic this half term is climate change, and we  are going to find out the difference between weather and climate, what climate change actually is, what the causes of climate change are, and finally what we can do to help stop it.

Our P.E. days will remain Tuesday and Friday - please ensure your children have a full P.E. kit in school with clothes suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities. Thank you.

As always, please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
