Welcome to Year 4. Year 4's class teacher is Mr Fitzgerald. We are also supported in class by Mrs Thorpe.
Miss Eatherley will teach the class on a Monday afternoon (PE and RE) and Mrs Squire will teach the class on a Wednesday afternoon (French).
In Maths this half term we will be covering fractions and decimals. We will also be practising our times tables everyday.
In English we are focusing on developing our writing, covering a variety of different genres. Our writing this half term will mostly be inspired by the book 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Squiglet Pig' and 'The Wind in The Willows'.
Our topic work this half term is all about the Romans and we are also going to be doing lots of investigation work in Science.
PE will now be on a Monday afternoon and swimming will be on a Friday morning.
Homework will be set on a Tuesday and should be handed in the following Monday. There will also be a spelling test each Monday. Children will be given spellings, a piece of grammar work and a piece of maths. Please do ask if you are unsure of any of these tasks. We would also encourage your child to read each evening, even if this is just a small amount - every bit makes a difference.
My door is always open should you ever have any questions or concerns, either pop into school to see if I am available or call to make a mutually convenient appointment. Alternatively, feel free to catch me in the school playground at the end of the day.
We are often asked whether there are any books which we can recommend for pupils. The website: https://schoolreadinglist.co.uk/ shows lots of good choices for individual year groups.
Please find the Year 3 and 4 spelling lists. These will not be the spellings which are necessarily on the tests each week as these link to particular spelling patterns. The spellings below are words which children should be using correctly in their written work.
Please see below Curriculum Map for lesson coverage this half term.
