Welcome to the start of a new school year!
Year 4 is taught by Mr Fitzgerald. We are also supported in class by Mrs Thorpe. Miss Eatherley will teach the class on a Monday afternoon (Art and Computing) and Miss Catalano will teach the class on a Wednesday afternoon (French).
In Maths this half term we will be covering a range of topics, focusing on place value and addition and subtraction. We will also be practising our times tables everyday.
In English we are focusing on developing our writing, covering a variety of different genres including character descriptive writing, informal letters, diary entries and story recounts. Our writing this half term will mostly be inspired by the book 'The Lost Happy Endings'.
Our topic work this half term is 'The Victorians' and we are very excited to learn about significant events from the Victorian era as well as how people lived, worked and went to school in Victorian times.
PE will be on a Tuesday afternoon and swimming will be on a Friday morning.
Homework will be set on a Monday and should be handed in the following Monday. There will also be a spelling test each Monday. Children will be given spellings, a piece of grammar work and a piece of maths. Please do ask if you are unsure of any of these tasks. We would also encourage your child to read each evening, even if this is just a small amount - every bit makes a difference.
My door is always open should you ever have any questions or concerns, either pop into school to see if I am available or call to make a mutually convenient appointment. Alternatively, feel free to catch me in the school playground at the end of the day.
