Year 6

Welcome to Year 6.  Year 6's class teacher is Mrs Kinsella. Friday lessons will be taught by Miss Robinson and Mr Hanlon.

Welcome back!  Year 6 have got off to an excellent start and have already shown masses of enthusiasm for the year ahead.  Year 6 will be taught Italian by Miss Catalano this term which is an exciting change to our timetable. P.E. will be taught by Miss Robinson (Friday morning) and Mr Hanlon (Thursday afternoon). Please make sure your child has appropriate footwear and clothing for P.E. or they will not be able to take part.

Our Topic this term is 'Victorians' and our eyes have already been opened to the differences between poor and rich families during this time. The children were also surprised to discover that Queen Victoria's husband brought the tradition of a Christmas Tree with him from Germany!

Our text that we are currently studying is called 'The Man Who Walked Between The Towers'. The children have been fascinated by the amazing Philippe Petit and all he achieved. They have already written letters to Philippe and have begun writing diary entries from his perspective.

Homework will be set on a Monday and should be handed in the following Monday.  There will also be a spelling test each Monday.  Children will be given spellings and a piece of maths work for homework that links with that week's focus. Please do ask if you are unsure of any of these tasks.  We would also encourage your child to read each evening.

Well done to all those children who have attended boosters already and are keen to work towards their SATs. Boosters take place on a Monday evening and a Thursday morning. If you would like more information about this, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you to all parents for your ongoing support. I look forward to the year ahead and spending quality time with your children.

Mrs Kinsella.
